Bike died today....elecrtical??? 03 Softtail Standard

03 Softtail Stardard (FI), 7500 miles
I was riding along at about 35mph, bike just died, like the key was turned off. Wife picked me up in my truck, bike is back home...
Bike cranks over just fine, no fire...
Turn key on, I can hear the fuel pump humming (stops after a sec or two, like normal), the small red engine light goes off (like it's supposed to), as well as the small red key icon (alarm?)
The oil light is on (goes off while the enging cranks).
All seems normal...
Again... Bike cranks over just fine, no fire...
Where should I start checking?
Is there a kickstand switch? Oil perssuer switch? Fuel pressuer switch??
Any ideas???
Going to the shop tommorrow... I'd LOVE to figure this out myself, need help...
Thanks, Guys

I would check your spark plugs first to make sure they both are producing spark while its turning over. If not, start working back from there (e.g. spark plugs -> spark plug wires -> coil etc).

The '03's don't have a kick stand switch. IMS, '07 was the first year to have a 'neutral' switch that would prevent the bike from starting when not in neutral.

There is a switch that will prevent the bike from starting if it has fallen over on its side (after a crash, for example). I don't know what its called, or where it is, or how to turn it off. Someone else on this forum should be able to help you out there, or you could check your owners manual.

Good luck...

Have you done anything to the bike lately? allways look at the last thing you have done, sounds like your coil maybe, pull a plug with it still on coil wire crank see if you are getting a spark go from there ,I might be wrong but to reset the tip switch you simply cycle the ign also doesnt it throw a code??

First check for GOOD spark, should be blue. If not then it's you coil.
This just happened to me in my auto.

I did nothing to the bike at all. No mods, no adjustments - nothing.
Bike is at the shop right now.
I'll let you know what they find.
Thanks

Bike is fixed...
Was a hose(clamp) that fell off the fuel pump(??). (Under the speedo)
No fuel pressuer, computer shut power off, thus no spark, etc...
Cost was $138.
Shop (very small shop) had another Softtail in with the excact same problem, said I was the 3rd they've seen with this deal.
All is well now.
