This morning on the way to work the speedometer on my girlfriends 2000 FLSTC quit working and she also said her turn signals will not self cancel. Where should i start?
Thanks!

I had the exact same experience with my bike at 2 years old and it turned out to be a short circuit in the ignition switch. Repaired/replaced under warranty.

IMHO, start with the easy stuff and move to more complex troubleshooting.

Try removing the speed sensor and cleaning any debris off of it and then reinstall it.

I went through this in the spring. Replace left handlebar controls(turn signal & horn)wiring. Same symptoms.

There's no speedo cable on an 00 flstc. Pull the sensor and look at it, if there's debris on it clean it off and try it again. If it comes back to life don't be surprised if you end up putting a sensor in it down the road anyway.

9 times out of ten speedo problems can be traced to the sensor but if turn signal or crappy riding condition are present its going to be your tssm turn signal module. its tied into alot in your bike

Had this problem a couple of years ago, cleaned speed sensor but didn't help. Local dealer replaced the sensor, then the speedo itself $$, still no luck! Finally kept it about a week and fixed whatever it was - I stupidly didn't get to the bottom of what they did. Anyway, it started again this week to go out. Did you have any luck finding the real problem?
