although your not lubing it, your cleaning all the crap out of it. Your crankcase breathers feed oil mist into the intake and this little valve doesn't like it much. Make a habit of cleaning it out with some Seafoam or any decent EFI/Carb cleaner about every 5k miles, more often if you idle or drive around town a lot. The hole that 03GLIDE is talking about is on the filter side of the throttle plate. Spray it out with the bike running and be prepared to nurse the throttle to keep it running when you do this, engines don't run real well on carb cleaner and oil gunk.
