cuts out at slow speeds and stops

Hi, FNG here, Im having an intermitten prob with my 2006 EG. It seems that sometimes when slowing to a stop or when first stoped at a light the engin stumbles out. the idle isn not catching to keep it running. most of the time everything is normal. anyone have this prob? trying to narrow it down. Also I have a lot of popping and some small backfireing on decel. (air getting in the exhaust) don't know if this could be connected. Im gonna try and torque down and reseal exhaust system to see if that helps but i don't think its connected to the stalling. What do you guys think? Any suggestions and Ideas are appreciated. thanks.

After doing another search i found some threads with similar problems to mine. So I do have some things to look for, although these posts were a few years old and there were no updates on causes and solutions.

Had the same problem this past summer on my 06 ultra. Most times if I turned the ignition off then back on it seemed to rest itself for a short time. I attributed it to bad gas. Hasn't happened in the last 3000 miles.

timing is set on the rear cylinder so if its stalling out the problem could be a few things.....1. cracked spark plug wire rear cylinder 2.a small crack in your fuel line inside tank common (hissing sound when turn on your fuel system) 3. take out your spark plugs both should be tan in color. this problem is usually caused by the spark plug wires. poppin and backfiring is a lean fuel system..

Mine was two tanks of bad gas. took 5 days to find it. Got ride of all the bad gas, also never went back to that gas station again. The guy that owned the station was a jurk.

For the stalling problem try lubing the IAC pintle. It's inside the throat of the throttle body. You will see a little hole on the top of the throat looking into it. Spray some seafoam in it while working the throttle with bike running. Do a search on it. Many including myself have had this problem. Back firing out the exhaust is a lean condition or intake leak.

+1

although your not lubing it, your cleaning all the crap out of it. Your crankcase breathers feed oil mist into the intake and this little valve doesn't like it much. Make a habit of cleaning it out with some Seafoam or any decent EFI/Carb cleaner about every 5k miles, more often if you idle or drive around town a lot. The hole that 03GLIDE is talking about is on the filter side of the throttle plate. Spray it out with the bike running and be prepared to nurse the throttle to keep it running when you do this, engines don't run real well on carb cleaner and oil gunk.
