Angry compensator nut?

i have a 2002 roadking that has a knocking noise only when it is cold or after a long hard run and it sits for a hour or so, the noise only lasts for less then a minute and goes away, thought it was a lifter bleeding down but after two sets of new lifters the noise is still there, but it does not seem to do it every time, can a loose comp nut do this? or has anybody had this problem,? the bike has new cam bearings, cam plate, tentioners, oil pump, chains and new stock cams and lifters, all this was done 3000 miles ago, and just put another set of lifters in thinking that's what it was, the bike has 41000 miles on it, i run amsoil syn 20/50 every 4000 miles

what side is the noise coming from? A loose compensator can make a knocking sound on the left side.

I have not experienced it, but was told about that very scenario this week at a dealer. I pulled my primary apart for a compensator swap and discovered the nut was finger tight. The service manager at the local dealer said this happens more often than you'd think. I don't understand why, because this nut has lock tite on the threads and is torqued to 150 foot pounds. But the tech stated that it will sound similar to a rod knock when loose. I had no noise, so I guess it was not loose enough.
