Anyone running a woods TW6HG cam?
I just spoke to Bob Wood today and he recommended the TW6HG cam for my bike. He offered the TW408G as an option "if you're daring". My S&S heads have .640 springs in them, so the 408 would exceed that by .010. He felt it would be safer to go with the TW6HG. Just curious if anyone is running it and how you like it.

I ran them and liked them. As long as your heads still flow good to that lift and your spring pressure is good for them. What comp are you running? I assume bob knew this when he recommended that cam. What are you running now and looking to gain from a cam swap?

I'm running an 01 RK 95" with 10.25:1 S&S domes, S&S 79cc heads, S&S 570G cams, 42mm Mikuni and D&D fatcat. It runs great, but the power comes on a little higher up in the rpms than I'd like. I would prefer to have it right out of the gate.

other cams makers
I dont know man, 640 springs seems to be a good number for tons of high tourqe cams. Have you looked into head quarter cams or andrews?/. What is there advice.

6HG is a great cam as far as I can say. Click on the top chart in my signature. Only thing is they are noisy. Not the gears but the lifters & rockers.
With a Fat Cat you'll do a little better down in the 2,500 area than with the pipe I am using.

What kind of lifters are you running and do you have limiters in them?

Stock "B", no limiters. I know there are ways to adjust out the noise. It works for some folks but it's not a certainty. My noise does not seem to be so much from the lifters as from the rockers anyway but who knows. I'm gonna leave things how they are. Doc said he checked the (roller) rockers for end play when he did the build and it was within spec. I don't do my own wrenching so I just don't want to go in and start throwing money at "possibilities". I was worried that something was wrong for the first few thousand miles but with over 20K on the build I am used to the racket and I have a 70 watt booster for the stereo ha ha.
Having the batwing & windshield is going to reflect any engine noise right toward the rider. The valve train is not as loud with my little 4" tall windscreen but that's really only because the wind noise is replacing the reflected cam noise. I know some guys have said their 6H is quiet but I don't remember any of those claims coming from Electra glide owners.
I do a little goofing off while riding now and then. I'll set the cruise control and hop back to the passenger seat, feet on the passenger floorboards and ride no hands for miles at a time. There is no valve train noise when sitting up there and my gosh what a view there is from up that high!

The .650 lift/408 needs to have a different spring, for other reasons as well as collar/seal clearence. Seat pressure and nose pressureThe 6H @ 10-2:1 will really build the torque.

Bob also said I absolutely must replace my lifters. I still have original lifters in my bike with 53K on them. I also have stock rockers, which I think I should probably replace with rollers. Any recommendations on best brands would be appreciated.
