Intermittent cut-out/miss on '02 FLSTCI

Ok, my first post here, been registered for a while, always found good info, thanks to all. Here's the deal. Wife has an '02 FLSTCI with about 24K on the clock, bone stock, the scoot has an intermittent miss/cut-out, buck, jerk problem. Had the fuel line in the tank replaced about 2K ago, fixed the problem for about 700 miles. Now it's back! She says it's the worst at 45-55 mph. Took it in to the local dealer, they checked battery connections and frame ground, No codes found, Installed latest ECM calibrations, checked main circuit breader connections, charging sys. output, fuel press. cyl. leak down, plugs and wires. The only thing they found was a dirty speedo sensor, cleaned that, everything else, so they say checked out OK. Service Tech said a new ECM may or may not fix it. Anyone else has a similar problem? Any suggestions? To me it acts like bad gas but she's run several tanks through it from different stations in different states even but the problem comes and goes. Again, any input is greatly appreciated. Wife ain't happy and you all know what that means!

I had a broken injector wire on my '03 Ultra (wire broken inside of casing, making it invisible) that would miss intermittently at speed. Only took two years for 3 different stealer's "Parts Changers" to track it down. Even tho there was a 'Tech Tip' issued on this problem way back in '02. Never threw a code. The wire was stretched too tight. It pulled apart from the engine rattling around on the rubber isolators.
A new ECM will probably not repair it. They either work, or they don't. No in between.

Krayven, I agree 100% on the ECM. Any idea where I can get a copy of the "tech tip" you mention?
Thanks,
dp

I pulled mine off of HarleyHog's site about 3 years ago.................... Surf around a little and you might find some interesting stuff. I've got a copy somewhere, but can't find it right now.
http://www.harleyhog.co.uk/

As my mechanic pal always sez:
Constant Problem = Electrical
Intermittent Problem = Fuel Delivery

I ended up taking a copy of the TT with me to the stealer and showed it to the SM (who claimed they had never received one) and my scoot finally got fixed after 30,000 miles.
I had a SERT (Screamin (B)Eagle Race Tuner) installed hoping it would elimimate the problem, but it di-int.

Hi Dave, I had the same problem on my 02 Ultra. I had the broken injector wire at 20,000 mi. and fixed it, when I started getting a miss again I rechecked the wire and it was OK. I had it to the dealer 3 times and worked on it extensively myself as well: tried plugs, coil, spark plug wires, fuel filter etc., finally the tech remembered that Harley had a corrective download for the condition...he installed the download and I've had no problem since..that was four months and 4,000 miles back. Hope this helps.
