Is the ignition module bad?

I ride a '03 FLHTC carbureted. I have 130,000 miles on it. I have always done the work on it until I needed a top end done (started using oil). I've always said if I couldn't work on it, I couldn't afford to own it. Nothing radical. Punched to 95" heads ported and polished. I put S&S 570g cams and switched to gear drive 70,000 miles ago, after going thru second set of chain tensioners. I didn't do any head work when I installed the cams. I won't get into all the BS that has got me here to THE question. During the top end rebuild, the stock ignition module went bad. Harley no longer makes the part. I found a used (right part # wrong rev need B it's A) one that works all right, but everything is not just right. I pull a trailer behind my ride every day. I run my business out of my bike. I know when it is right. A local shop here in Denver had a "Dyna TC 88 - 2 2001 carbureted models only". This is what is printed on the box, ignition module. I plugged it in, ran great for about 2 miles, then engine started cutting out. No pinging, just cut out, never quit. Adjusted curve down one notch from 38A curve to 36A. Rev limit set at 6000. It didn't change things. Mechanic thinks the problem is in my bike. I think it is the module. Any thoughts? I do not have steel core spark plug wires. I do have a manifold intake leak(minor, plugs look fine)which I'll get to. Thanks

Very first thing would be to fix the intake leak or you could be chasing your tail. Nothing else matters until the known problems are fixed. JMHO.

I knew I was going to get this answer. Just didn't think it would be the first. I'm already working on it. I'll post back when done. Tim007
