Runs lean????

I have an 06 ultra and it seems as though at times it runs lean. What i mean is that it surges at low speed and backfires through the exhuast. Then it will be fine for a while. This began after the front engine mount came loose i am thining a sensor or a wire to a sensor is at fault. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks
stu

Wiggle the injector wires and see if it changes.

Does the amount of fuel you have in the tank make a difference?

thanks so much for the reply i will check the injector wires. It doesnt matter how much gas is in the tank it seems to be very random.

Check for leaks at the intake and exhaust gaskets.

Speaking of lean...Yes I did it...I put on a Hypercharger over my S&S super E (which has a thunderjet installed). Once I finished yelling and screaming at the whole install I found that the bike actually runs pretty good. Only problem is that a buddy told me to check my plugs, and sure enough they were white. I'm hoping that someone can advise me on how to set it up to take the lean out. Like I said..it seems to run great with lots of power, but I don't want to burn her up. Any suggestions?

Popping on decel.......why I love this forum. My bike also started backfiring on decel last weekend. I was three hundred miles from home & started getting visions of a $1200.00 fix. I checked this forum for advice. Somebody wrote in to check for exhaust leaks, tighten exhaust clamps, etc. I checked all the clamps & then noticed both exhaust nuts on the rear cylinder were gone! The compression ring was still there & just hanging on the head bolts! Dealer sold me two new nuts for $1.30. Runs great now.
