new HD high volume oil pump

What do you guys think of the billet cam plate/high volume oil pump (part #25283-07) from HD?

Is this worthwhile (for a 95")?

Itis a nice piece of work. I have one and think it is worth it. Order thru Chicago harley or Zanotti's for less. I got mine for $342 as my dealer matched the discount prices.

Glad you asked this question. Mine is in the shop as we speak, and I am contemplating having the billet cam plate/high volume oil pump installed. Looking forward to the responses you will receive.

Too my mind, if you can get it in the budget, I think the question would be more, why not do it.

It can only help the engine in the long run.

it is for the TC88. it makes it so you can run the new upgraded oil pump that is on the 96's in the 88's.

Just got mine early this week. I needs a camplate and pump as mine were thrashed. Made perfect sense to me. Good price and looks to be a very good product.

Now, if you old stuff is fine and not worn out or high mileage, there is NOTHING wrong with the stock stuff. Just add a shim to the oil spring(or baisley), re-install and call it good..

Just installed one in an 03 95 inch because the outer rear cam bearing was spun in the plate and the oil pump was scored a bit, it appears to be a really nice piece for the money but only time will tell, it is advertised as having better oiling for the chains and tensioners and has the upgraded 07 style pump, only thing that bothers me with it(and all 07 up oil pump setups) is the fact that they no longer use an oring on the oil pump to camplate mating surface.

Mine, which I installed last year on my 05 Road King, puts out 35 lbs at about 3500 rpm. Stays in the 5-10 area at idle. The pump doesn't necessarily create more pressure (you wouldn't want to create more pressure than the system is designed for) but increases oil flow volume and significantly increases scavenging to keep excess oil out of the crank case. If you do the roller chain conversion on an 88 you get the oil pump as part of the new cam support plate and other upgrade apparatus. If you don't want to upgrade to the new roller cam chains or prefer gears, Harley sells a Screamin Eagle billet cam plate that incorporates the new oil pump.

96s and 06 Dyna 88s all come with the new oil pump.

If you're wondering about it's effectiveness, take note that Jims new 131" drag race engine, which creates 135 hp and 130 lbs of torque, uses a Jims billet cam plate with the new stock Harley roller chains, hydraulic tensioner shoes and the new oil pump. That's a pretty good endorsement in my book. See Jims site for the specs on this engine.

I've used both. I like the feuling super pump better (build wise) and their camplate is a much tighter fit to the camchest. Is it worth the extra dollars? Most likely no. I wish the feuling camplate had a pinion bushing instead of the parent material...however with low runout, should be good.

The flow of both pumps seem about the same. I ran the Latus 002 spring in the SE camplate, which equals the feulings pressure setup.
