Dtt Wego W/ Stock Pipes

2005 FLHTCUI, 95 ci,SE performance mufflers, SE air filter,203 cams. Without going thru all the pros and cons of true duals, or whatever, has anyone used the DTT wego with stock head pipes (with the crossover), if so exactly where did you put the sensor in the rear cyclinder pipe? Thanks in advance

I would take a look at an '08 bike and put the bung in the same spot as the factory.

You want the bungs as close to the exhaust port as you can......normally within 6" if possible.

The biggest problem is the lenght of the two different sensors. The MoCo uses the narrow band sensor (shorter), Dtt uses wide band (longer).

I think the best way would be to cut a dowel (use same diameter) the lenght of the sensor with room allowed for the bend of the wires and see where it will fit, then mark and drill. Take to a welding shop and get the bungs welded in. Pay attention to the angles when marking.

After welding, chase the threads with an 18x1.5 mm tap (Napa has them) before screwing in the sensor.

Thanks AG. I did go to the stealer today, and looked at the position of the rear sensor, they put it in what I would call the crossover pipe. I think I have heard some discussion of there being a lip inside one of the pipes, but I dont remember which one it was. I didnt know if the "left" pipe would be better or the crossover. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks for the replies.

The stock exhaust is a 80% right side, 20% left side............so to put the o2 sensor in the crossover pipe does make sense as most of the exhaust goes that way.

You'll love the DTT system.............I've had mine installed for about 6 months and the bike runs better then ever.

I am running the dtt wego II and used the stock pipes with s&s oval slip on mufflers. love the sound nice and low. I ran it that way for a year but was not shure I was getting all out of the dtt. After re reading their instalation guide several times I gave up on the crossover and built my own true dual conversion similar to fullsacks. I think the dtt is happier with true duals in that the rear o2 sensor was not getting the full flow across it with the crossover pipe. Plus I have the true dual sound. I had reinhart true duals before putting the sock headers back on I could not stand the harsh rap and no one wanted to ride behind me. I know every one says 2 into 1 pipes make more power I just can't see it on my ultra.

I'm with you cts, I like looks of the duals. I actually have a set of V&H true dual head pipes, that I would run the SE mufflers with, but I hear a lot of people say that the duals are louder, which i dont understand why it would be that way with the exhaust being distributed equally between the the mufflers. Any thoughts?

My thoughts on the mufflers are that they create back pressure and let it out over time as a long pulse. With duals you loose some of the flow and back pressure causing less muffling a short harsh pulse. The s&s ovals are larger in displacement and lower the note of the exhaust just by a lower resonance. I have put their quiet baffle in them and like how they sound. I get alot of positive comments from others about the sound of the pipes. Best of all I can hear my radio much better.
