HELP...stripped oil plug threads

Just changed the oil for the first time today and found out the previous owner stripped the oil plug threads.

What sould I do. Does anyone make a oversize oil plug? Doesn't look there is enough room to install a heli coil without pulling the oil pan.

Which is it--the plug or the hole that's stripped? (Get a mirror under there to look at the hole if its not on a stand)--if the hole doesn't have to many burrs or shavings you'll be in good shape to get another plug and o ring and put her in. Caution--aftert installing warm the bike up to see if it has a leak and then take it for a spin--check the oil plug's torque when the bike cools--if it's the same setting and it's not leaking--enjoy your weekend trip. (opened ended wrenches are a twin cams worst enemy on drain plugs)

The threads in the hole are stripped. The plug is OK. I got it to sort of tighted down and it's not leaking. But I know I need to fix it.

If you gotta roll you gotta roll--this isn't the right way but if you haven't put oil in it yet--teflon tape.
Otherwise--you'll have to wait to the real experience comments--I'm not sure how you can get a straight shot to rethread while it's in the frame.

That is exactly what I did. Because I didn't have time to deal with it at the time. It has been stripped for awhile. Probably why the previous owner offered to change the oil for me then I bought it.

Stripped

What our remedy is, is to remove, weld, machine, replace. Shake hands.

Re'
Go to your friendly Checker,Napa,Autozone ECT and ask for a 1/2 inch first over size drain plug...most come with a smaller hole and plug in the center so you do not have to remove it at your next oil change...
Good Luck
