ECM Code - B1006

Hi guyzzzz... can ya help us out here...?
I`d like to run this by you guyz an get your thoughts on this.
I`m not even sure if i`m in the right spot to ask these questions

Anyway here it goes..,
i have a friends bike here (Stock - 04 EFI Deuce w/SE slip on`s) .... i`m seeing a code in the memory (B1006) I know what the code is., but cant nail down its problem. (i dont have a harley electrical manuel here) The bike feels and runs like its running out of gas., and went it dies., ALL electrical is gone away too. You can wait a few seconds and the dash lights and feul pump will turn back on., an then you can restart the bike an it might run a few feet an quit again., or it might go a mile or two an do it again. It sounds as though its starving for feul too. If you pull over... leave the key switch ON... everything lights back up in the dash and the feul pump cycles within a few seconds most the time.

I`ve cleaned the battery terminals an the cables real good... battery is fully charged., but this didnt fix the problem and its still quitting.., and its kicking the B1006 code again everytime it quits running. (yes.. i clear the code each time)

Could we possibly have a bad main circut breaker. The circut breaker is the only thing i can think of that might cause this issue.

Any others seen this issue...???? Or had this exact problem...????

Thanks guyz...! (larry)

Hi,

B1006 Accessory Line Overvoltage Instruments

Code B1006 will be displayed when line accessory voltage is greater than 16.0 Volts for more than 10 seconds.

Code B1007 will be displayed when ignition line voltage is greater than 16.0 Volts for more than 5 seconds.

This is telling that your instruments are geting to much
voltage should be 11.6V-13.8V
i would check the voltage regulator probably it is faulty, check also the Battery ground cable !

put a voltmeter at the battery and if motor runing
it should read about 13.2V if more then 13.8V then replace
the Regulator.

Thanks GREATLY Fred.... i sure appreciate you guyz ALOT in here
i will check it out tonight when i get home from work an let you know what i found out with it.

My own curiousity....
Does the bike shut down when voltage is out of range normally...???
Just seems really weird how this is acting... because the bike seems fine until you ride it. You can rev the engine up while on the kickstand., and all seems normal until you try to ride it... then it starts acting up with no givin time frame.
