clutch

Hi guys,
Yesterday I was riding with friends on a nice Cali day. I noticed couple times when I opened throttle all the way engine is sounding like I am going but I am not. So I think clutch is slipping. What do you think any suggestions.

It probably is slipping. You can adjust it easily yourself. That would be the first thing I'd try because it doesn't cost anything.

Try adjusting the clutch per the manual at the clutch plates under the derby cover. If that doesn't help then it's time for some new clutch plates.

dealer will check it, if everything is ok I insited to put heavy SE spring.

If your not comfortable adjusting it yourself, at least make sure the cable is not adjusted too tight. There should be just a little bit of slack before you pull on it.

Unless you have a really beefed up motor, have or want strong hand grip strength, you shouldn't need the heavy duty spring.

since bike is under warranty I don't want to do nothing on my own,
I will check it when is done (they are changing starter clutch it went bad ) my bike is not beefed 103 with cams, but last week I noticed twice clutch sleeps when I opened it wide maybe needs just adjustment ... dealer will check everything if needed heavy spring will be installed...

Look to see where the clutch Grabs from the handlebars.. Close In or Far Out ?

What is the distance you have from the clutch handle by the ferril when you pull on the clutch cable housing... You should have an 1/8 at Most and a 1/16 LEAST... IF None,,,, their is a problem as the cable is TOO tight. causing you to ride the clutch like having your foot on the clutch of a car....

Dude, Clutch cable and disc adjustment is stupid simple.

1. Pull the cover
2. back off the jam nut
3. run the allen bolt in till it gently touches.
4. back it off 1/2 turn or so.
5 tighten the jam nut.

really simple.
