Heavy duty clutch spring

Just had some work done on my 09 FLHX. I always hated how the clutch seemed to drag out before, but now it is really noticable.

So I'm thinking about getting a Barnett or Screamin Eagle heavy duty diaphram spring to help stiffen it up some. But will one of these make the lever a lot harder to pull? Can somebody tell me if it will?

On my Softail I re-geared the primary and installed an extra plate kit and a S.E. spring. Now the lever is hard as hell to pull. But I don't know if it's the extra plate or the spring or the combination of the 2. It is terrible if you get stuck in traffic. And I would rather not have my street glide be like this too.

Yes, it's going to be harder to pull in and hold after adding the SE spring to it..

I installed a Barnett spring after I went to a 95" motor upgrade. It was noticeably harder to pull the clutch lever in. I have had a problem with tendonitis in my left arm and this aggravated it so I installed a Rivera Pro clutch. That gave me a much lighter pull and a clutch that holds all I can throw at it.

Depends on the year of your softtail ?
Your 09 has a ramp arm that is longer than the 06 earlier ramps.
They are not near as hard to pull with a heavy spring.
Just finished putting one in a 12 flhx (actually 10 min ago).
The pull is nice. It is more than stock, but stock is like butter anymore.

Great info, thanks. My Softail is a 99.

I figured it would make it a little harder. Just didn't want that make your arm and hand fall off feeling that my Softail gives me. Haha

Installed my heavy duty spring today. It is pretty hard. It's smoother, but almost as hard to pull as my Softail. I got a Barnett spring for my Street Glide and my Softail has a Screaming Eagle spring. They may be different I guess. Going on a ride tomorrow. I'll see if I like it.
