Weird "jump" after shifting into 3rd

Hey all. 2000 FXST, 95", apr 70k on the clock. Lately, after I upshift into 3rd, it sometimes feels like something is starting to bind up, and then it "releases" and after that it's all good. This happens after the clutch lever is fully released; maybe 2 or 3 seconds later. Sometimes it feels as like the clutch slips, then grabs, like if you pulled in the lever and released it really quickly. The only thing I can compare it to is driving a 4 wheel drive that binds up in 4low when turning on pavement. The clutch is stock, and I have been doing a lot of 2-up riding. It's doing it more often, but it only does it in 3rd. I've adjusted the clutch, and I have an auto-tensioner on the primary. Also, I've noticed that the clutch engages closer to the end of the release, like maybe it's getting thin. I'm just looking for guidance as to whether it's probably clutch pack, compensator, or tranny. Oh, and I've checked the drive belt, and it looks ok, with good adjustment. Thanks in advance for any ideas. JD

I have that on my 07 fxstc some times. Feel can best be described as the belt jumping a tooth. Checked mine over and it's most likely from the clutch pack, like the oils not getting squished out between the plates sometimes , fast enough.

First of all your clutch release point is dictated by your adjustment. I would readjust the clutch and check your primary fluid level. Test ride and see if it helps.

Thanks. I haven't had time to look at it yet. I'll probably recheck the clutch adjustment and primary fluid level this weekend. I'm pretty sure the level is ok, because I changed it recently and it didn't affect this problem. I appreciate the responses.JD
