Another Compensator question...
Hey all,I have some newb questions,so please bare with me.
First of all,I have a 2002 Soft Tail that has had a Performance Machine Phat Tail 240 conversion kit installed...this install requires a 1" offset in the drive line...I bought the bike after this conversion was made.
I'm getting some "backlash" in the drive line when de-accel...I pulled the primary cover to find that the engine sprocket is solid,no compensator sprocket.
Called Perf. Machine and was told that the newer version of their kits provide a 1" crank extension and you can use the original compensator, which I don't have.
Have called 3 Harley dealers and they all want $500.-600. for a new one...ouch...I've been looking at some aftermarket comp. assemblies, such as the BDL chain drive comp...I have also found a comp. that has a 1" offset ??? Maybe It would'nt require the 1" crank extension???
Any ideas as to what a good replacement comp. would be? I'm working on a tight budget and really don't want to spend anymore than I have to.
The dyno printout shows the bike is right at 100 HP,so it's got torque...I was thinking that a compensator might take out some of the "clunk" when de-accelerating.
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions
