Help? Paper towel in transmission...

My neighbor dropped a small dime sized piece of paper towel into his transmission after checking the oil. It was a small tear off that was loose and just happened to fall in. I offered to help and tried to grab it with a pair of Hemo's and it fell in further. I tried to fish it out with a wire, but nothing came up. I figured it would get shredded up through the pump, but fear it might now. Any advice? Appreciate anything you can offer up....

I don't think the transmission has a pump it splashes. The tiny piece of paper will be gone in seconds.

Thanks guys, I should have mentioned it was a road king twin cam, not sure what year but post 2000 for sure. I feel somewhat responsible because I thought I could get it so I offered it and I knocked it in further. Anyone else want to offer their two cents it is certainly welcome.

There's no transmission pump. I agree with 03Glide.....ride it and change it. I'm not sure changing it is needed, but I would.

The trans will grind up that paper no problem, even a bottle cap with no damage.

No story Cujo just figure that there are no lube circuits or pumps to plug, just oil being splashed around. I did drop a speedo gear in a manual car trans once and the service department told me then not to worry about it. Never did no harm, I guess you are right though there is a back story.

Way back in the day I dropped an allen wrench in an old Ford tranny.. I'm guilty too.

Con men used to put wood shavings and banana peals in transmissions and rear ends - it would quiet them up and did not seem to do extra damage.

Hemo's huh? Hmmm.... why do you have those? No problem set and forget it. You may have stumbled on the cure of the 3rd gear whine. BTW what whines more the owner or the 3rd gear?

Agree, on a big twin, probably not a big deal. The stock dipstick flakes more cheap as chrome then that, and so far so good.
