Fxwg Oil On Fender

I can't figure this out. I had a small tranny leak I believe at the pulley.(which has happened before). But now I have a spitter. It spits all over the rear wheel, liscense plate, fender, and back of the corbin seat.
I replaced the tranny fluid with Redline. Still very small red leak on ground and black dots on fender. I guess this is another leak. Maybe from the primary? I don't have $$$ to have this repaired right away.Probabaly have to tackle it myself or save up a while.
I'm trying to decide if I should pass on the big weekend ride (1000+ miles) or go anyway with extra fluids. It will be messy, but I doubt it can get much worse?

Hi, I'm guessing. My trans was leaking a bit & I tightened down the top allen bolts & stopped my leaks. I'd use some carb cleaner around the trans, drive it a bit & see if you can find the leak? Dave

I've had small leaks in the past. But the only time I had a leak like this was with a crack in the oil tank. Doesn't seem to be that issue this time. I think I will clean it up real good and maybe even run it on the lift to see what's happening. Thanks

clean the primary area really well (the back side) take it for a quick ride 30 mins. or so when you get back put it on the jack and get under it. you should be able to see the leak. two things, it could be your shifter shaft seal or your trans mainshaft seal. once oil hits your trans pulley, the belt carries it to your fender sprocket area and creates the **** mess.good luck!

Make sure it is not overfilled, if it is it will puke oil out the tranny breather hose.

If it is leaking it does not matter which seal it is, because you must remove the inner primary cover to do anything. Once you are that far you should replace all the seals and the spacer.

I just ran into a similar issue on my 02 Ultra. I started getting oil showing up on the sides of the oil pan. Started to blow back onto the rear wheel and drip onto the ground. I believe I have traced it to the top cover on the trans leaking from the back, dripping down the back side and then getting blown all over the pan and rear of the bike. I will let you know after I replace the gasket today.
