My clutch tool

Well I went to adjust my clutch on my 08 Ultra the other day, usually I just let the dealer do it when I have them do my service, but since cash has been tight I did my own 10,000 mile service.

I saw my nut had been rounded off from the techs using open end wrenches to tighten the clutch while holding the allen and I thought this is stupid.

I also see where many folks have talked about welding a nut onto a socket so the allen fits though it. Nice idea but your still holding a socket and a wrench and the allen.

So I went to my tool box and what I found works the best is an 1 inch off set box end wrench. It fits perfectly 11/16th and comes right out of the primary like it was made for it.

I have a snapon but here is a link for craftsman which has them for $15 Just thought it might make it easier for others and no more slipped wrenches or rounded nuts or holding 3 tools.

Yeah, I never understood the welding a nut onto the socket technique. I prefer multi purpose tools over single purpose. I've been using an open box wrench for a while, and its only slipped a couple times (cause the wrench is at an angle and can't get a proper grip on the nut). The nut doesn't need a ton of torque. Just enough to make it snug. However, the offset wrench would do the job much better. Thanks for the tip...

Great find on this deep offset wrench, Wildey. Going to have to get one of those. I've been using a regular 11/16" box end but it doesn't fit without hitting the outer primary cover,... and even then it doesn't fit on squarely.

Thanks.
