Clutch Cable smoking!!!

Ok heres my problem, started when was time to leave home from Sturgis.Bike clicked when i tried starting it, got a new battery nothing still ended up bump starting to get going.Got it home went over all electrical and no problems.Now when i start up the bike smoke starts pouring out of the clutch cable,yes the cable end up by the lever. I found one spot that has rubbed through covered it and still did it.If this has happened to any one i would appreciate any and all help. TIA.

Sounds like you may have transmission issue's. Have you checked the trans. Are there any problems with the shifting? Oil levels are ok?

Okay checked the two main ones under the seat.There tight and clean also checked all the other ones.

Make sure the eng/trans are also grounded to the frame. The bike is looking for a ground under a high amp draw like when the starter is engaged. Remember just because something is tight doesn't mean it has good conductivity.

You can use a temporary 4 gauge battery cable to find the area with high resistance.

Shop guys saw burned clutch cables years ago on rubber mount engines. Missing ground engine to frame.

Yep, check the cable from frame under the seat to the back of the inner primary where the starter mounts. In addition to possibly being loose, I've also seen a few broke or almost broke cables.
