Sidedoor gasket replacement

I got a tranny leak, not the clutch release cover, think its the side door. Can I remove the side door with out removing the shafts?
Can I remove the two clips and just pull the cover off? Will this disturb anything inside? Special tools?

The manual talks more about just tearing down the entire tranny, not just removing the cover from what I can tell.

Thanks
2001 FLHR

ok you need to get in your underwear for this one.... Just kidding with you. The side door bearings are pressed on the shafts or the shafts are pressed on the side bearing whichever way you look at it.
You need to actually come from the other side... Primary then mainshaft bearing and then that will allow the side door to come off of there. The clutch basket comes off as on piece and there is no load to worry about such as spring pressure. See my hanging oil tank if you can cheat it that way or if you can access your starter as that is going to come off too I think but not sure as the year of your bike? The Gear set will come out of there as one big assembly after of course you pop the top of the tranny off and remove the shifting dog or body and pull your shifting forks out too. Remember this trick when pulling your shifting forks slide tubes out then slid forks right back on so you know which is front and mid and back. Special tools?? You know about the breaker bar for the front sprocket as you keep that in your saddle bag. Need a
Main bearing puller / install
Deep socket for the pully
and if your clutch is splined and kinda sticky use a puller to ease it off. When re-installing do not use your clutch nut to press it on the spline as it has a tendency to mash or flare the nut and cause it to rub on the convex washer in the clutch hub. Use a rubber mallet or ?? to coax it back on. I used needle files and solvent and cleaned both the spline and the hub for better slide on and off. Pop the main bearing off remove the screws on the door and it should pop or slide out from the exhaust side. Oh dont forget you get to remove your exhaust too/ Time consuming but doable.
Regards

I'll probably wait until winter to do this. Georges Garage does sell some kind of puller so you can remove the bearings with the shafts in the tranny. I probably wait until winter, or until I get other bike on the road.

Oil pan is also leaking, maybe I'll get lucky, and that will fix both leaks.
