Ultima 3.35" belt drive

What modifications would have to made to an '88 FXSTC to install this unit ? Spec states fit is for model years '90-up EVO. My friend has an '95, and the only obvious difference I can spot between his drivetrain and mine without disassembly is the starter assy. I'm quite happy to replace my old and tired starter but if I'd have to replace the tranny as well it might not be worthwile.

Any help, suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

The starter should be the only differance. It will bolt up to your tranny fine.

Isn't that a "tappered" shaft tranny & I believe the 90 & up are the splined shaft? Almost certain that your clutch hub is set on a tappered output shaft & a key. The belt drive is set up for a splined shaft. If you want to up grade to thier 6-speed,new starter, then the belt drive will work. Just went through this with my friends 85 FXR.

Thanks, you're right I've got the tapered shaft. Found a packackage at Jireh - 6sp tranny+belt kit for 1100 and change, at a different e-store they asked 1250 for the belt kit alone. Maybe I'll replace the tranny afterall and save 150.
