Question Installed EZ Clutch and dipstick can't screw in???

Bike is a 97 Softail Custom.

I installed one on those EZ Clutch kits that helps make the clutch lever easier to pull by giving linkage more leverage, and job went smooth as silk. I also switched to Redline ShockProof oil since I had to drain transmission to do the job.

On last minutes of re-assembly though, I found that with the new cable routing inside of the transmission side cover, the dipstick would not screw in. Basically, it was cocked enough to prevent threading it on, regardless of what side of the cable that I tried to put the dipstick.

Anyone else have this issue, and if so, what did you do to "correct" it?

(on a side note...ez clutch setup was very much worth the measly 25 bucks)

Adjust the cable so theres a little play in it, the dipstick will thread in. Readjust cable.

I also noticed, and this concerned me even more, that if I held dipstick in by hand, you can clearly feel the cable and then the linkage inside hitting it...

I'm sure your suggestion would work to actually get it screwed in, but with it actually hitting inside there has to be another option. For now, so I could ride tonight a little, I snipped the dipstick off with cutters, but that's not a correct or long term solution really.

I HAVE heard of dipsticks getting sheared off from the cable rubbing on it.

That definitely won't happen now, lol...

I guess it wouldn't hurt to get another dipstick that is used solely for checking the level, and use my new snipped version to run with?
