i have a 92 fxrs, and the primary wont stop leaking. It is a slow leak, after riding only a couple drops on the floor the next morning, but i have changed the gasket twice and put sealer on it the second time. Also the oil leaks onto the belt and splatters on my rear pulley. i dont know if its coming from the drain plug or the cases. i wrapped the plug with teflon tape and still a leak. Any ideas?
have you checked the inner primary seal...? if in doubt as to where your leak is coming from....get a uv additive.get it at autozone or somewhere like that,put in required amount,ride it,put a black lite under your bike and it will show exactly where your leak is coming from,just follow the green glow..........
If its getting on the belt its most likely inner primary seal or, its coming out of the transmission. The tip about adding a leak finder is right on, we do it all the time on cars,
This will identify the source, then you can make the proper repair without the loss of time, money and aggrivation of not kicking its butt the 1st time around, Diagnosis is the key here, go get the oil additive and a cheap black light bulb for your drop light.

Others have already pointed out most likely source of your leak however there is a possibility you have a leak from the rear rocker box cover and it is dripping down on top of the belt. When the bike is parked on the jiffy stand, it is possible for a leak in this area to drip oil directly onto the final drive belt due to the lean of the bike. I had this happen on my old '98 Evo Road King.
