Question clack, clack noise from the rear wheel

of my '08 ultra w/ 8886 miles on it. Noticed it when rolling it backwards out of my garage. pushed it back in and still had noise in forward direction. Put it on a lift. still had noise when turning wheel by hand;sounded like it was from the IDS. Noticed some caked on mud on the wheel so rolled it back outside and sprayed it off with hose. Pushed it back in garage, no more noise. This was all last Tuesday. Wednesday it went to dealer for recall and i asked them to check out the IDS. Bike is still there, no word from dealer yet.

Unhappy update:

Just got off the phone with the service writer at the dealer. Bad wheel bearing. Says they got a wheel bearing and the rubber isolators on order. So still not sure what was making the noise, the bearing or the ids; not a noise i would expect from a bad wheel bearing. Going to be another week at least before i get the bike back. And today is the first cool day here in months; perfect riding day.

Talking update

Called the service writer to get clarification on which bearing was on order. Turns out it is the IDS sprocket bearing not a wheel bearing.
seen a couple of other posts here reporting bad IDS bearings at around 9k miles on '08s.
