Since I've had the bike, there is noticeable difference in noise, effort, and clunk,up shifting into 3rd gear. All the others are like glass and smooth; 30,000 on this transmission.
In riding it, I've adapted to short shifting into third to minimize the clunking....just curious if other "early" twin cam transmissions were like this...
I've used heavier trans lube that provides a little relief...
After warm up , I get a hard shift into 1st. Third takes some rockin motion to drop in. within 10 miles after 3rd started actin up , 4th & 5th are followin suit. I noticed the forward free play is at least double of what the rear ward play is. Didnt wanna start opening anything up if theres a easy fix??? Will the adjuster nut behind the shiftpawl affect the gears ability to slide without foreplay,? Or is that adjustment just to even out the free play on either side of third? Would primary case over full affect any part of this
