Unhappy Shifting Prob - 2nd to 3rd with M6 installed

Hi-
Just installed a M6 Tensioner on my 2000 softail as per instructions and now whilst attempting the shift from 2nd to 3rd the shifter feels stuck (like it hasn't dropped after going into 2nd)
Does that make sense ?
I have the M6 for up to a 2000 model and my bike was bought in Oct 99 so that should be fine - the correct amount of fluid is in there
It just feels as the shifter jams between those gears
Can anyone help ?
Thanks

I'm not a big fan of the M-6,I had one on an FXR for a while.
Seemed like it only worked right when it was shimmed up so tight that it was almost like the stock shoe.
Not sure what is happening with yours but it could be that the slack in the chain is causing the gear shifter to jam up from chain whip.
