speakers are 5.25 No room for a 6.5 your main limitation is the HK radio which restricts you to a 2ohm speaker

Thanks for the information.. I thought so but wasnt sure..
I am replacing the stock radio with a Sony from hog tunes (i think that is the right name) so I hope I can use some different speakers.. and since I am painting my bike this winter I think that I am going to try to see if I can fit a 6.5 speaker in there somehow..
I think I will try to make a mount that will let the speaker sit further back in the fairing.. who knows..

If you're switching to the 4 ohm try the POLK db series with a 93spl they are pretty efficient. I "grafted" a RG fairing on my Softail this past winter and have an Alpine headunit, Alpine Amp (their new PDX series (in the tour pack) and a component setup in the fairing.
I have no problem hearing the radio at 75+mph over the RB LSR exhaust

I went ahead and got a klock werks 8"er. Has anyone purchased any aftermark pipes or slip-ons for their '09?

I have a 09 RG, Stock shield was fine but liked the looks of the shorter ones. I've tried the 6" Harley, 8" Klock Werks and just put a Memphis Shades 11" on. Now that I blew $450.00 on windsheilds I think I'm going back to the stock one. There is soooo much wind noise I can't hear the radio with any of the short shields on.

As for pipes, I got a great deal on reinhart slip-ons ($399.00 shipped to my door), and had the dealer do stage one download.

Oh yea I'm 5'8".

There was tons of noise with the klock werks windshield? That is a little disappointing. I think that it will look pretty hot though.

That is a really good deal on the slip-ons. Where did you get them? Are they loud? You get any more horses?

Yes, seemed like it directed the air into my ears.

Pipes came from Treasure Coast Harley in Stuart Fl., talked to Troy in internet sales. Not to loud for me. I didn't do an air cleaner so little or no HP gain. I was just looking for the Harley sound.

I completed what was expected to be a simple project today.

I purchased lowers from Hogg Chopps. I like their shape better than HD's and they are half the price.

The wrinkle was that with 03 and prior the turn signals stick out too far to mount the lowers.

I found someone selling 07 turn signals (a bonus, it included the smoked lenses and chrome trim kits) for about $70. This was less than half of what the dealer wanted for the stock units... and the dealer would have to order them.

The fun was that the wiring is routed differently... through the turn signal base, through the inner and outer fairings and then back into the fairing. I had to notch the outer fairing on both sided and grind pathways for the wires in the fairing struts. I tried a new 04+ strut which has the channel already and is chrome; but the holes are about 3/8" off.

I buffed the struts and lacquered them black... much nicer than the plain aluminum finish.

After I had the new turn signals mounting the lowers was simple. I'll take some pictures tomorrow... before or after the freeway test.

In the meantime you can look at a picture I lifted from hoggchopps.com.

Those lowers look good! It would be great to see some actual pics of them on your bike - this might be a good addition for winter!
