Thanks. Got them off e-bay for a show and parade I was going to put her in. But like always life got in the way and I missed the Bike Show. But I kept the lights on anyway.

jMORTON, Very nice RK. I have a '06 Road King that is almost a twin to yours. Same color, bags, etc...the previous owner put a little more chrome on it and I have added the 2 up sissy bar/pad and I am in the market for the 2-Up Tour Pak.

OK, been looking for a luggage rack that will fit my 07 flhrs. I have original seat but have a laydown license plate. I don't want to relocate the plate etc.. I have found racks that attach to the laydown plate holder and rear seat screw for other models but not the flhrs. Any help would be great. I looked at the Kuryakyn rack that attaches directly to the tubular support that the plate is on but I'm not sure it will clear the laydown plate. Thanx.

Ok I got a fairly simple not too complexed quetion about the RK's and I figured this would be a great place to ask seeing as its the RK rider area and I know I'll get accurate info.
How do these bikes handle around in town in stop and go situations, two up riding long trips 100 to 1000 miles, in the corners (leaning limits) , functionality, aerodynamics , etc.
Most of my riding is two up whether in the city or on the hiway.
I've been reading a couple reveiws that didn't give positive feedback for the RK's.

I have a HD detachable passenger backrest/luggage rack that works perfectly with the laydown tag bracket.

I guess the buring question is, "as compared to what?" I once rode a 175cc dirtbike. I find the Road King not to be nearly so nimble in around-town traffic as that bike was. It is much more comfortable two-up on long trips, however.
Seriously, though, I stepped up to a Road King after riding used middleweight Honda's and after a 10-year hiatus from riding. I was concerned about what it seems like you may be concerned about. It looks like a big fat, heavy bike and how am I going to handle this pig around town? When I drove it home from the dealership (had never ridden an FLHR before) I was surprised at how nimble it actually was. I actually found it easier to ride around town than my middleweight Hondas due to its lower center of gravity. It loses that manuverability at low speed when riding two-up IMHO.
As for two-up all day highway riding, it depends on how you have it configured, seat, backrest, etc. You can add a tourpack if you or your passenger likes. My wife rides with a backrest pad on a detachable sissy bar. She would be more comfortable if we had a tourpack, but I haven't paid the money for that yet. With the right set-up you can go all day with very good comfort. You will have to invest some money to get it that way, however. You won't drive off the show room floor, leave for a two-up four-day tour, and experience great comfort or the absence of whining.

I guess if I had to compare it would be against other FL's , I can't see comparing against my WG its a differnt style.

Road King handlebar options?
Hey all,
I'm wanting to change-out the bars on my road king but undecided. Apes or beach bars. Your thoughts, experiences or photos appreciated.
Thanks, TC

I changed mine to the Road King High Bar. I'm very satisfied with the change. Required no change in cables.
