The Tri Glide is being manufactured by or from a design worked on by Lehman Trikes. The only DOT approved trike kit on the market.

To answer some of the previous questions:

There is about 4 CF of storage under the tour pak.

One does feel the road more on a Lehman Trike or in all trikes, it is the fact that some much more weight is put on the front end and front tire. When cornering hard the front end sters, it does not lean, so if the road is a little rough, the front end bounces a bit. Nothing dangerous, just different.

I've had a Lehman converion on one of my bikes, an 03 abbiversary for almost 3 years now and love it. I converted it for my wifes back as she rides with me, and the conversion now allows her to spend 8 hours or more riding shotgune, where as prior on two wheels only about an hour or two and then pretty good pain. The changes HD has made to the design are all improvements over what Lehman has successfully put out for years. Plus with the bigger motor and the 6 speed highway tourning will be a dream.

The price of $30 K is VERY resaonable. Take and Ultra - $23,000 add some accessores - say $4,000 and then a Lehman Kit with some accessories and one is up to over $40 K, so HD has in my opinion done their homework and priced the bike right.

If someone wants or needs a Trike, is a HD rider I would suggest a good hard look at the Tri Glide.

hard to beat the price

that you can walk into a dealer and get on a tri-glide. $ 30,000 and away you go. As previously posted buy the two separate parts and you'll be closed to $ 36,000.

It easy to understand why the saving. THe bike leaves the factory in partial assembly from what I saw at the Lehman plant where new units be being assembled. Consider what you don't use from a new bike when you trike it: rear wheel assembly and swing arm assembly would probably cost you $ 3,000 at the Harley parts counter.

I saw one at the Harley show in Rapid City during the Sturgis Rally. And there were a couple at the Lehman factory over in Spearfish.

And then there is the factory 103 cubic inch engine that is stock on the tri-glide.

We got our first Tr-Glide in at our dealership this past Friday and I must say it is very nice. The color is Hot Crimson Sunglo. Of course it is sold and the owner has been in reviewing the trike and anxiously awaiting pickup. I haven't got the chance to test drive it and I don't think that will be possible. The dealer only puts about 12 miles on during a test drive and he knows that so I am out of luck. Will try and get a pic to post later.

Do you know for a fact the the Tri-Glide is the ONLY DOT approved trike kit on the market?

DFT trikes have stated they are DOT approved. I would find it hard to believe that the other manufacturers are not. Just sayn'

Hello Bountyhunter,
That Trike looks like mine when I first bought one. I got mine Aug 28, 08, and was told by Eagle-Mark that it was the first one sold in Arizona, and Nevada can't even get them in yet. Imagine that, the state with all the money, and "I" get one first.

Talking limited availability

well the House of Harley in Anchorage has one coming in November (Blue) and another coming in February (Sunglo.) The Sunglo is mine.

The dealer claims the tri-glide will be limited availability for the first two years. But we all know dealers like to tell you that about all the bikes.

I was wondering if anyone had seen a Tri with a rear bumper. I notices on the HOG site a couple of pictures showed the Tri with a rear bumper. Again according to my dealer there is no option for a rear bumper at this time. I immagine an aftermarket bumper for a Lehman will work as the Tri is really a Lehman trike.

My Tri will have the reverse and alarm options from the factory.

There is a chrome rear bumper on the HD site as a part you can buy.

Yes OldMsocko, I to am interested in this bumper. I did see a pic on another site and the owner called it a nerf bar. It did look good, but didn't look like it would do any good if you were to back into something, or got bumped by something. I added the Screaming Eagle 4" pipes to my trike with turndowns. This madness was for better sound, and to keep sutt / carbon off my trailer. Just for your info, these pipes and tips add about another 8" to the back of the trike. Pipes are baffeled, but do sound better than the OEM Pipes.

toybox99615, The Alcan has always been a dream of mine. Don't guess it is like it was 25 years ago, when a vechile had to carry MANY spare parts, and lots of extra gas. You were guarranted to break down several times in route. It probably has a paved road now, and maybe even two cars can pass. Of course I would have to stop at every fishing hole between here and there. Question for you??? How many days of hard driving does it take now, not counting breakdowns?

HEY DUDES TO NEW TRIKE OWNERS.... I take my Trike in for the first maintenance / oil change / & check Thursday (500 Mile). With it I am sending Blue, and Red loc tite. Things are loosing up, and the trunk bolts fell out. I did loose them as they had no place to get out of the trunk. The parking brake end screw was greased in. I cleaned that off, and put some Blue on it. My trunk lock button rotated, to where a key can not be inserted to lock the trunk. The parking brake, and the clutch both have excessive play, as to be expected on break-in. My low fuel light (1 Gal) came on as expected , BUT did a quick count-down. It started with 35 miles left on the tank, and jumped down to 26 miles in less than two miles. The computer adjust accordingly to your MPG for the first 5 gallons used. I got 33.88 MPG in city driving. Yes I baby'ed it, keeping it below 4000 RPM for the first 50 Miles, and below 5000 RPM for the next 450 miles. I broke in a 2001 Indian Chief (88 S&S) fast and hard, and yes it was fast and rattled like it was going to blow everytime I got on the wicket. So I doing this one right.

Not to be writting a book here, but this is a good place to share problems, and experancies. Let me know how your shoulders feel the next day after bull-doging steers all day. I was pretty sort. Now that I've learned to look around to the inside of a turn around the windshield, it's a lot of fun. I like the mountian rides. Sometimes the front wheel skips on bumpy roads, but after a couple scares, you get used to it. No harm done. I expect that I will need a new front tire within a couple thousand miles. The rubber just rolls off the OEM tire. Enough for now, someone else do so finger picking.
