'05 883 Muffler/Jet Question

Have been reading on here that some people knock/drill out the baffles on stock exhaust and the result is a louder, good sounding, but not obnoxious sound, and some slight power increase as well. My question is, if I did this, knowing its an all or none situation, do I need to rejet as well? and if so, (yes, here is the noob question of the day) how?

You will get lots of differing opinions on this subject. Bottom line is that to get more performance you need a combination of less restrictive exhaust along with more air coming into the engine. Opening up the exhaust may help some, but IMHO really no need to rejet if you are not changing the amount of air the engine takes in. Now if you put a higher flowing air intake on, then you definately want to rejet, as you will be running lean.

As for rejetting, head over the the XL Forum and do a search on rejetting... lots of good reading on the subject.

Good Luck!
