AWOLF is on a distinguished road
03 Sportster overheating

Hi
I come here seeking knowledge, things they did not teach me of in college. Like, what to tear into first when my bike overheats and you cannot afford to take it to the dealer. So I'm kicking it in the shade and this guys says,"Are you outta gas"? No I'm waiting for it to cool off. He tells me I have an obstruction in my oil system. The bike started crapping out so I pulled over. Once it cooled off it started right up. I rode it about four miles and heated up again. The resivoir was full so the big question is what are the possibilities and which one would you tackle first. He also mentioned something about a flapper in the bottom of the oil tank.
What can you tell.
Thanks
