If it has drag pipes put some good mufflers on, That will perk it up.

Andrews has a good selection to choose from.
Headwork, re-ring/bore, good ignition, and mufflers.

place your index finger of your right hand dead center on top of your head and place your left hand on your hip...click your heels together three times ...then lift your left foot up and spin around twice.....should work.....more power to you when you do this in front of your buddies on base

Go to Amazon Books and type in "Sportster" in the search window. There are some books on how to tweak your Ironhead. Most of them are for Evo Sportsters but there are a few on Ironheads. Then get some good mail order catalogs like J&P or Jireh or Dennis Kirk. You can spend a lot of money on go fast parts but with a little knowledge you can get good used or new stuff for cheap off Ebay or Craigslist. Do the research first. The easiest (but not cheapest) way to go is go to a local independent tuner and have him help you. Like someone already said drag pipes detract from your midrange performance. I think you could get a new set of Cycle Shack slip on mufflers from Jireh for around $120. Good place to start.

Good Luck and have fun.

By the way, I've seen Cycle Shack slip ons on Craigslist for as low as $50 a set. They look good(although stock appearing) and sound good. Cycle Shacks are made in USA too.
