Lone Star Rally 2009

Making plans to attend the Lone Star Rally for the first time. Anyone got any pointers on where to stay (prefer walking distance from the bars), what to do, etc?

Well there isn't really any places that are walking distance from the bars, but there are a few on the seawall that would be closer than the rest.
Go to the website.. lonestarrally.com and then there is a tab of hotels that are in the area that you can check out and see for yourself the distance and if you are interested.
As for what to do, man, things will be going on from morning til night on the strand and around the area, you will be ok in regards to that, you won't be bored..Again, the rally website has a list of things going on and a map of where things are going to take place.
I've been going for about the last 5-6 years, with last year being the exception, IKE..... It seems as if it is getting bigger and better every year, so we shall see if it is on par with previous years rallys, after IKE came to town last year. And since you have never been, Pace yourself, Friday night is fun, but Saturday night, the last night is always better..Plus it is halloween, make sure your camera has a full charge and you have room on the memory card.. oh the sh*t you will see !!!!
Anyways, ride safe to Galveston and have a great time... I'll be there Friday the 30th...

Thanks 5150, We are looking forward to the trip. Shoulder surgery has kept me off the scoot for about 6 weeks. See you down there.

Well this is a good rally to go to to get back on the bike !! A place you want to go to on the seawall is called The Spot... good food, cold beer and a lot of seating outside overlooking the gulf..There are a bunch of other places as well, I just like that one for some reason I guess. We'll probably be there around 10:30am !!
