Route and Riding Input - Black Hills to Vegas : V-Twin Forum: Harley Davidson Forums

Am riding to Vegas from the Black Hills starting this coming Friday. Plan on heading south to Casper, Wy, than over to Evanston, WY for the first day. Not sure about the 2nd day - Do I want to get part way to Vegas and hole up until night to make head further south. Everyone keeps telling me it is like riding in an oven and I am going to get heat stroke and die. Especially from Mesquite to Vegas. Any input, advice, etc will be appreciated.

I was just in Evanston a few weeks ago on similar ride, N. of Vegas though, hwy 6. I woke up early and left at sunrise with around 50 degrees and that helped beat the heat. One tip though is do the mileage math and figure out where you'll be for a room. there's some long stretches where there just isn't a place to stay.
