Headed to the mountains in August

Without the OL! I wanna be able to make it and it wouldn't happen with her tappin' me on the shoulder everytime I went 1 mph over the limit!
I'm gonna miss the ol' back rest!

It'll be NC. Gonna do the Dragon (again) and the Cherohala, the BRP, and all the side streets leading to the BRP. I'm gonna go as far north as Grandfather mountain, at least.

Last year I did 2K miles in four days. This year I'm gonna go for six days.

Probably camp half the time...can't beat 12 bucks a night!

Hope you don't melt just try'n to get here, ride'n in august. I moved to the nc mountains to get away from all that FL heat.. Check out those side roads for sure. There are some roads that the dragon can't touch. Search carolinamcevents or carolina motorcycle evnts . This is a great site for riders ,will show ever camp ground and most all bike friendly joints, events happen while in the area and lots of other bs.

I rode from 9am till 12:30 and there wasn't a breeze to be found....not even at 70 on the flattop!

When I do leave in August, It'll be about 6 or 7 am.

(not even at 70 on the flattop) Kinda like a big convection oven, just swirles the heat around you. Don't miss those 85* mornings when you go to work at 5 am. We have built 5 homes for jacksonville area folks the last couple years. I was born in j beach one block inland and one block south of the old beach access by the redcross/ life gaurd station when they still had a board walk. Raised in collier county,5 to 41 years. Do you ever make it down to Palatka at the river ? There use to be a reastruant/motel that had all you could eat cat fish? Use to ride up there for weekends back around 97 and earlier before move'n to Nc mountains. I know its gone now. Still any hogs on a1a down around the sand duneswhen head'n south? There probably gone to by now. Miss some of the roads down there just not that darn 6 months of hot.

Be sure to jump on 276 down the mountain toward Waynesville (off the BRP). If it's really hot, sliding rock is a few miles down. You can sit in the mountain creek and let it take you for the ride of your life. Very refreshing!

Brain fart...I meant toward Brevard; don't know about the other side...

I was just at Grandfather Mountain Saturday! Breathtaking views, and the BRP was awesome, as well as 221 going to the parkway!
