Family Vacation In Gatlinburg TN, where to stay?
Looking to take the wife and kids, ages 5 and 2 to Gatlinburg June 11-14th. Anyone have any recomendations on places to stay. I like "nicer" places, and would be great to find a place with some sort of a outdoor waterpark. (Read Disney like).
Also, any thoughts on things I should be sure to do while down there? Thanks for advise.

I've been to that area twice and rented a cabin both times. You can just google Gatlinburg cabins and you'll get a ton of returns. Some will have access to a pool but I'm not sure about anything more advanced than that.

We stayed here last fall. Not much to do at the cabin as far as pools and such. But it was very convenient to all the Tourist Trap stuff and the Dragon's Tail

We went last year over the 4th of July, I can tell you where NOT to stay, the Days INN(there are several) down by the Texas Road house was a shithole to say the least, ended up getting into town at 11 in the eve, the door latches were broke and the room was a mess, ended up walking the streets till I found a hotel with room, as for what to see, the Aquarium alone was well worth the trip, if you have never been to Gatlinburg let me tell you it is one HUGE tourist trap, store after store, kind of like a giant version of Wall SD, lots to do for the wife and kids but I was pretty sick of walking around town after a day or two, there is a trolley that will take you around town if you don't mind a rough ride and hanging on for dear life. All in all it was an experience and like I said the Aquarium was worth the trip, also the 4th of July parade was awesome but I can also guarantee I will not go back any time in the near future.

Gatlinburg - Sieverville and Pigeon Forge - all are close together and they all are loaded with motels -cabins and hotels - BUT don't stay at the Best Western in Sieverville - the cockroaches are big enough to carry off the kids.
To Bad you'll be leaving on the 14th as there will be a rally starting 3 days later and you will miss a ton of bike events.
Also for the missus and the kids -check out Dolly Parton's place and the upside down house on the main drag, the kids will love that one. There also a tram ride down by the aquirium and a HD shop across the road well worth lookin into. Two blocks down is the main drag in Gatlinburg with enough shops to keep the wife and kids happy all day long.
On the main road between tese three towns is a host of good places to enjoy and your only a couple of miles from the enterance to the park also. Good time and place to spend the day.
Were going down on the 14th so we'll be passin ya somewhere on the way. Enjoy - Cause once you go you'll for sure do it again. That area just grows on us Hoosiers don't ya know!

I would drive to Pigeon Forge for the Texas Road House alone. Really good food and great service when we went. Now, I'm talking about the one in Pigeon Forge. I didn't even know there was one in Gatlinburg.

I went to the dixie stampede resturant and it was good. the food was good and the entertainment. they do a show they recreate the civil war inside the building with horses and everything. Sometimes the north wins sometimes the south wins. You will need reservations though.

We go down every year just for the curves. We always go down before Memorial Day (no traffic). This year I was able to find a cabin West of Pigeon Forge (keeps you out of the tourist trap stuff).
