Planning a ride to Virginia Beach for the first time.

Any lodging suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Someplace where the bikes would be somewhat safe.

Also if you have any ride suggestions, that would be likewise appreciated.

First of all depends on what time of year. If its between memorial day and labor day stay in Chesapeake. Twenty minutes away and 50 less a night. For rides a good one is jump on the highway and go into Hampton, take route 17 and get off at colonial parkway. You ride this antique highway all th way to the Jamestown / Scottland ferry. Take a free ferry ride accross to smithfield and back through the farms of suffolk. As you get closer get me a message. I live here and will help in any way you need.

Are you coming for the Bike Classic? I still haven't seen an official date or even if they're still having it this year. 17 is a great ride but on the other side of the tunnel, nasty business there. We like to do a loop from Va beach to Knot's island grab a beer at Pearls then pick up the ferry to North Carolina, lunch or dinner in Elizabeth City then swing back up to Va. It's an all day ride. Off season on the beach isn't all that expensive but still more than anywhere else. Most have parking garages with good security. Let us know when you're coming and we'll catch up for a cool one...
