Breez, is yours the Cobalt blue color?
I pick up my new 07 softail custom this morning... my first Harley too. I'm a nervous wreck.
Can't wait for my first ride on a real Harley.

This thread makes me feel old! I have a 1992 Softail Custom. Still love riding it, even though it has a tiny 80" engine and one of those "antique" carb things.
Shifts just like a 4 wheel drive truck, can't begin to talk to a passenger because it's so loud, and pulls like a train with the cam I have in it.
I think I need to get that bike out and ride it.....

If you don't I'm sure that there are any number of guys, myself included, who will be happy to give it a ride for you, or even a whole new home where it will be used, cleaned, polished, and appreciated for its more classic qualities.
I bid $.50 (I''m a little broke right now, just bought my 07 Custom), anybody wanna bid higher?

Amen to that, like Ferrari's should be red, Harleys should be black. At least till you can get a full on custom paint job that is.
Your gonna love it, its amazing how fast you can get comfortable with it.
Its not a crotch rocket, it doesn't handle, accelerate, or brake like one, but its far more comfortable and does a very credable job for a bike that's as big, long, and heavy as it is. Mostly because they got the balance and geometry right the first time.
So all you should have to do is make sure you leave enough room to stop, or evade, and always have an escape route planned. Remember its the idiot who may be looking but still doesn't see you who's going to do something stupid, like try to get in your lane next to you like another bike. The bike will nearly take care of itself.

"Escape route" ... amen and words to live by. I've ridden a lotta years off and on and the cagers seem to be getting worse - specially the cell phone folks.
After just 100 miles, I think she's great! Handles much better, quicker than the VTX I came from. Brakes have to be applied firmly, but they bring the bike down pretty nicely - plus, the extra effort ensures it'll be more difficult to lock the brakes down.
Thanks everyone for the kind words and I look forward to riding with some of you one day.

Mines Black Cherry...........I guess that counts for something! The 2 tone Pewter sets it off nicely. Looked at the black and thought I would like it, it just didn't have that "wow" affect I was looking for.

im going the opposite route of what it supposed to look like. did the LED light. Black fork sliders. slammed the rear. deuce risers. drag bar. waiting for lepera solo seat. ill keep the lazy boy recliner for when i ride my g/f..

Congrats, and good choice! I've had my FXSTC a month now and just passed 1,000 miles myself. I love the bike. Just added the quick release windshield and it makes the ride comfy. Downside is, it amplifies the engine noises.

You mean you've got one of those "politically uncorrect" machines...a Harley!!!!!!!!
I'm up for it if you want to sell.

Service Recall?
Plugged in my VIN on the MOCO website service check up area and got this:
ATTENTION:
There are one or more open safety recalls or product improvement campaigns on your vehicle. The following list contains the campaign number and a brief description:
0903: TORQUE SMOOTHING CALIBRATION
We strongly urge you to take your motorcycle to your dealer to have the appropriate service performed as soon as possible. Should you choose to ride your motorcycle prior to this service, we urge you to be aware of this condition. Please see your local Harley-Davidson dealer for further details.
Anyone else seen this? Could it mean that they have a fix for the vibration/rattle under acceleration? Dealer service is closed today. Will have to call on monday.
