Never had the clunk,..... I'd search til I found it.

I love my 08! Loved my 04 and the other previous 4 softails (Fatboys/Heritages).

The 08 by far out did the rest of them. I guess any newer bike has less wear on the shocks and stuff so new will always rule,..... but that six speed is a nice addition!

The "clunk" is the steering head bearing which gets a little loose in the first 1000 miles. Very common in these bikes according to the dealer. They tightened it up at the 1K service last week and all is well. My wife and I BOTH love our 08 Heritage. I've never owned a bike that rode as well two up as it does solo.

My '04 Heritage suffers from "saggy bag syndrome". I know there are several remedies out there in the aftermarket accessory world, but which one do you riders rate as the best? Please post your comments here. Thanks.

Transmission Drain Plug

Changed transmission fluid on my 06 heritage and cannot get the drain plug to stop leaking. I used teflon tape and still did not help.
Is it possible to get it clean and dry around the outside of the plug and put some thing that would stop the leak? Hate to keep draining out the fluid and buying new trying to get to stop leaking.

Congrats on your new Heritage. You'll love it! That's one sweet looking paint scheme BTW!

Hey fellers, I gotta 94 FLSTN that I've been having troublw with the Aux. lights flickering but here lately they just go off and stay off for a couple hours. I already had the ignition switch out and cleaned all the contacts. Is there a relay that these light run through and if so where is it. Sorry I don't have a manual.

There is a small O ring gasket that goes on this bolt, be sure you replace it with new, they are cheap.

Hey out there,

I've been posting in the technical sections so far, but I thought I'd post a picture of my everchanging horse taken on a trip along the beautiful Rhine valley. Most of the changes were done internally though...

Regards, Armin.

Hey Faast Ed, do you have the Rush slip-ons over the stock pipes? If so, what size baffles and how do you like them. Did you consider the V&H pipes b4 you got the Rush?

Jim,
They work well with the stock headpipes. I go back and forth between the 2" baffles and the 2 1/4" baffles. One is much louder than the other (but gives me more top end power).

The good news is that I have a D & D Fatcat on the way! It was shipped Friday and due mid week.

Smile Progressive Suspension

I have a 93 Heritage Softail with suspension issues. Mainly it has terrible suspension front and back. The front is pretty straight forward to fix it but the rear I want to ask about. Has anyone ever replaced the Progressive shocks on these bikes. I checked to find that the shocks have already been extended to full adjustment. It rides hard but bottoms out easily. This bike only has 20,000 miles on it and I put on 3000 this year, so it has sat more than being run. Can anyone shed some light on this situation on what should or needs to be done before I spend the green on new shocks?

Thanks
