He claimed that Fatboy owners are usually people who have ridden Harleys for less than 5 years...and a true HD rider owns a Dyna Low Rider. I obviously disagreed. How crazy is that thinking? The Fatboy is a fantastic bike that rides and handles well...and I think it's pretty damn smooth!
ask him how he feels about sportsters...if he says its a chick bike he needs to get his hand out of his pants and in touch with reality...sounds like a cliche' kinda guy anyway....love people who can judge experience by what someone rides...headuptheass disease...funny sh!t....

Well, I'm on my third bike in a little over a year. I started on a XL12R, put about 400 miles on it and decided it wasn't for me. I swapped that out for a Buell, which is one hell of a fun bike, but my gf and I don't fit on that little seat too well together, so for a while we've been debating getting something a little bigger. Well long story short, we went to Rossmeyers in Daytona to window shop and came home with a peace officer edition Fatboy. I put on the backrest for the gf yesterday and went and put a few miles on it. SWEET bike. It's going to take a little getting used to the weight at low speed, but overall I'm very pleased. And now since the gf has her own seat, I get to enjoy 2 up riding without sitting on my balls.

Here's a picture of my Fat Boy. Picked it up yesterday with only 36 miles on the odometer.

In search of good information.. can you supply?
thanks for the help

You need to order the 2005 15th Anniversary Edition Fat Boy Model Service Manual Supplement 99482-05T.

Hope this helps.

HD makes special editions for firefighers and cops, the cops are called peace officers. Need to have proof of employement to get them.

@06 flstfise:

Ape Hangers do give your ride more attitude and it does look good. Just some things to note:

1. You would want your apes to be at least 1 1/4" so that it has that fat look and you can run your wires inside for a much cleaner front end.

2. Rise: Too high and touring and handling would be very much affected. I am not sure how tall you are but as long as your arms are not more than 1-2" above your shoulders, you should be ok. So maybe 12" Apes would be ok. Then all you need to do is to find the correct height risers to do adjustments.

3. Width of the apes shouldnt be too wide either. Perhaps 35-38" total width should still be in the comfy range.

4. Then there is pull back. The more pull back, the more leaned back you are. If you have flat/drag seats, then a big pull back would uncomfy. However, if you have sundowners or deep dished seats, then a bigger pull back would be ok and you can rest your lower back in the deep dish.

Just mho.

Cheers

Hi - Just got a new rear tire put on my 05 fatboy. I bought a tire at a dealer and had it changed at a tire shop in town.When I took it for a test ride I had no rear brakes! As it turns out they bent the brake rotor when changeing the tire.Is there anything else that should be checked to make sure they did not screw anything else up? any info would be great.
