Fatboy windshield help
Have an 07' Fatboy, and not made up my mind whether or not to add the front touring lamps. My question is this, I know the windshields are different if the lamps are put on. Can I get windshield for the touring lamp application and add the lamps later? Or would it look funny?
I do want the detachable type windshield...thanks for the help , part #s if you have them.....

I think it'll look fine. There are several types of detachable windshields to go with. You can also get a windshield outside of H-D.

Greetings from So Cal!
Hello group,
I'm new to the forum and to HD. I have a 99 Fatboy, the last of the EVOs and love it!! It's been modified a bit (see pics) but it's still a Fatboy.
Living in San Diego County (El Cajon) I have the luxury of great riding weather all year round and am taking advantage it! (Sorry to you who are snowbound!!)
Look forward to chatting with all of you!
Gary

Nice ride
You have a nice p38. I am from National City San Diego myself. Unfortunetly right now I am stationed in PA. Up to my A***** in cold weather. Oh well great time to wash and wax the bike. I am getting another bike go figure next winter. I have a Super glide and want to upgrade. My mind goes from Fat Boy to Street Glide. I need something that will grow old with me you know what I mean. Well take care and once again nice ride...... (I hope you enjoy the traffic on 94) lol just kicking Airborne!

Frozen in PA
lzyboy,
Sorry to hear about the weather! Hope you can get back to So Cal soon. About the new ride, IMHO stick to the Fatboy. Clean lines, solid wheels (no spoke tightening, trueing, etc) and don't go EFI; heck of a lot easier to work on and modify. Ultimately your decision and as long as it's a 1/4 ton of throbbing American steel between the legs, it's OK!

thanks p38
thanks for the advice, it helps. I know in the end I will have to decide what to bring home. I have seen all the threads about people asking questions what to choice from, so I will make my decision when the time comes. It still doesn't hurt to research you know what I mean. Enjoy the ride and be careful for god sake. That traffic down there is getting bad I should say alot worse.
by the way p38 your log on name is taken after the tool used in the military to open items? If it is that is awesome the p38s are a great tool and need to be brought back into service. Damn I feel old! If not you will have to explain.

p38
As a civil emergency response guy (Ham radio operator) and an emergency preparedness fan (Scout leader and such) and with a Marine and an Army recruiter (Bronze Star w/V device in Iraq) sons, I'm very familiar with the handy p38 can opener. I have several in my 72 hour "Go Packs". But the reference is to the WWII fighter/bomber Lockheed P38 Lightning. Probably the most versatile yet most under rated platform of the war. The Germans called it the "Fork-Tailed Devil" and in the Pacific theater it produced the two highest scoring Allied Aces of the entire war, along with helping to avenge Pearl harbor by intercepting and killing it's architect, Adm. Yamamoto.
Any way, hope the weather warms up a bit for you. Keep up the search for a new ride.
BTW,the traffic is bad out here so I try to stay to the side streets as much as possible.

Since you're a P-38 buff, you probably already know this but will post for others. This plane is located near my mother-in-laws place so we've been there, very interesting stuff. Amazing story!

Thanks p38 I went to the stealer today and looked around some more. They have more bikes than they know what to do with. They have to place them all the way down to the bath room. Glad to hear your safe and home, done some time there myself. Enough of that! My grand father spoke briefly about those planes. He used to talk about those planes all the time. Well have fun and thanks p!

Purple Haze, I know you, yes you need to pay to have an avatar, yes you can post pics but they do have a size limit and you wont be able to see your own pics if you use the standard attachement method unless your a paid member. here is the list of file types and size limits.
Filetype Max Filesize Max Width Max Height
bmp 1.00 MB 640x480
doc 1.00 MB - -
gif 1.00 MB 800x800
jpe 1.00 MB 640x480
jpeg 1.00 MB 640x480
jpg 1.00 MB 800x600
pdf - - -
png 1.00 MB 640x480
I host and insert my own pic's into the threads that im posting in and avoid all of this problem, oh and by the way they have already seen the CC/CP CVO fatboy, I posted it a few pages back first post #517 so this is old news now , but feel free to post more if it make you feel good.

Mustang Fastback seat-Opinions
Hi,
Wanted to know who has one, and what do you think? I also wanted to know if it pushes you forward at all. I want to have the same leg room as the stock, or more. I have a Corbin Gunfighter, which is OK...a little hard, was thinking of trying the Mustang..How is the comfort also.....thanks

Do you know anyone who has one you can sit on?
I know that the Corbin Solo feels higher because of the way its scooped, but its far more comfortable on when your legs are up on the boards/pegs then anything else I have tried - just feels really weird when stradling the bike.
I have used a Badlander, Stock, and a reach seat. Reach seat kills my back, agony and pain, I have to put stock on when riding that bike. Badlander was awesome looking, easier to reach the ground, but wasnt very good for 50 miles or so.
My advise is to put your legs up and straddle, see what works. While the Corbin is hard, after almost a year on mine I love it. It cradles my back side like a hand on the back of an infant head. IIRC the Gunfighter is closer to a bandlander seat in style.
What are you looking for? Comfort, Style, Reach, Seat Height, or a combination? I sense the gunfigher is leaning you towards style and seat hieght. Are you concerned with reach?
