Frame - Powdercoat or paint?

Mocking up my bike during a frame-up rebuild and am wondering about the advantages of powdercoat vs. paint? I put quite a few miles a year on my bike so durability is a must.

Haven't decided on a color yet but have been looking at everything from silver to metal-flake...

Ya can't beat powdercoating for durablity it wil take knocks that will cause paint to chip off.
It would be a little more costly but you won't be repainting your bike every couple of years.

+1 for Powder Coat, very durable, and available in an incredible selection of colors, even some base/clear combos that are really slick.

Powdercoat has tons of colors and even gloss to flat finishes, so that would be the way to go in my opinion. Matching powdercoats can be done pretty well these days with paint, too. Ever think you'd hear a painter tell you to not paint something??

Now, you must keep in mind that you will be limited to certain colors for your tins once you paint the frame a color, so choose your color wisely. A silver flame and you're gonna need to incorporate silver in the paint scheme - could be silver flake flames on black, blue, red, etc...

I think having the frame done is the ultimate in customizing - go for it!
