one piece top clamp

Ok Forum have a question on a part number from harley. I am going to put the wild 1s 575 on my 06 street glide and have been told that i need the one piece top clamp for the bars to keep them from breaking. Is there a stock harley part for this or where do i need to get this one piece from. If it is a harley part does anyone have the part number or give me some input on this top clamp for the bars. Thanks Booggerbe

Hey Boogerbee, I installed cyclesmith apes on my SG and I ordered a one piece clamp from HD, but it didn't fit out of the box. It was too thick, so the stereo wouldn't sit down where it should. I ended up grinding a lot of material off it with a makita grinder, and finally got it to work. Anyhow, after I finished the install, someone told me there is a top clamp made by harley that fits without modification. They said it was the one that has "Ride to live, live to ride" slogan on it. I don't know any more than that, I'm thinking maybe that clamp is made of steel, and therefore thinner, which would make sense that it would fit under the stereo. The plain chrome one I used was aluminum, hence the thickness being too tall.
Good luck, hopefully someone will have a better answer.

Ron, 55918-08 is the clamp you need. Bout 40 bucks if i remember right. Fits great in my fairing. Done 3 with that clamp and all have been fine, even with the apes on mine.
