Re 04 Fatboy 'Softail' fender...

Hi all, I am planning on changing the rear fender on my Fatboy to one of the 'ducktail' types...can anyone suggest a year/model that will fit without too much trouble? I will also be wanting to put on a wider rear tire as well...should look good...

Thanks, Craig

If you go with a wider tire, you may need to go with an 06 fender...but that would mean different struts too I think...possibly swingarm. Guess it depends on how wide you go with that tire. If you were to buy a 00-05 softail fender, you should be able to work with your existing setup, and possibly go a little bit wider than what you have now...

I have just ordered a fender via google search plenty of cool rear fenders to pick from. Pends on what you are doing to the rear end as well. I did like the look of the duece rear fender but my light is a cat eye on the side. So since you require that as the bags and all may want to take a look at that one? Think about a blank and consider drilling your own fitment some have plumbing for rear light as well as a smooth option. wire clips on the inside and be over come with a trip to kragen and glue those (plastic clip) front and back on the inside tight and you should be tucked in.

an 04 fx softail fender should be a direct bolt on.

You could also look at Sumax for different styles...RWD, klockwerks...but those will require drilling your own holes and the metal ones will need some bodywork before paint too...

But the the softail standard models from 00-05 would be an easy swap. Without knowing what size tire, hard to say for sure if it will fit your application.
