Fender and Paint Questions
Hi All,
Looking to replace my front fender.
Leaning towards the Sumax lowboy skirted. Is this a good product? Is steel better than the composite for the long run?
Looking for a painter also,
Black pearl,, small red pinstripe and would like to match the gray tribal flames from the tank.
Any leads on a who in my area who can do this,,, and a ballpark price if someone here knows.
Thanks
Mike

Mike, Sumax is a very good product. Their composite is strong as, or stronger than steel. Yow will need to mock up on your bike first, drill the holes, and then send off to paint...
I have worked on a few of them, and I was impressed with their quality, and they won't ding from rocks like metal does...

Just finished the mock up of the Sumax fenders on the wife's Fatboy. The The front fender is very good quality and has a solid uniform thickness and heft. I found the rear to have a couple variations in overall thickness of the fiberglass. (discovered during the process of modifying for the look the wife wanted.) Nothing structurally a problem and since I was doing a lot of new glass work to it for some changes it was nothing. The front fender was a snap to mock up, just a little work to clear the brake caliper. I don't think you would be unhappy using their products.
We drop the stuff off (Fairing, front and rear fenders and tank) at AJ's Custom's in Tempe Az. to have them shot today (2009 Harley Pewter Pearl) and they will be the final judge.

I can give you the information if you would like and you can contact them..
I can also get them to give you 10% off of your quote...
and yes they do the ship and paint thing for you ...
and even better they are a reputable shop not some flyby night guy...
happy to send you some pics of the work they did on my bike..
oh yeah and they are quick too....

OK, I'll say it..... Mike, you're in MASS you should be using Pat Paldino (I know he won't toot his own horn), right here in Worcester (that's Wooster - to you non MA folks). http://www.kustomflames.com/
I've heard he does a good job and I think he's quit drinking (only kidding).

Thanks alot guys, been a big help.
Reroll, have already talked to Pat. Looks like it's in my near future.
Now I'm stuck with which damn fender. Lowboy Sweeper 8713, or the Lowboy 8631....
Decisions, decisions. leaning towards the 8713. Think it mite fit the bike better.LOL
