Far as I know HD has only ever had one shade of black (aside from the metalic pearly stuff). Vivid black is the only solid shade of black that I ever heard about.

blacks still faster! actually, that sunglo red is purty, and the purtiest bike i ever buit was red with orange, yellow and white flames. that was in 1977. hardware store paint, proffessional painter, and lots of sanding. but black is faster.

I know of only two Solid Black colors offered by Harley.
They are Vivid Black and Black Pearl.

I know. I clicked on the thread to see if it said "does it take to change a lightbulb?"

Vivid black is vivid black. DBC9850 I believe the PPG code is. The black pearl is more of a very dark charcoal. If you are trying to match something then if you were to buy vivid black from any other year it should match up just fine....

Thanks for the serious reply Kustom Flames. I bought a fender from a 07 streetglide and it seems to be a little darker black than my 01 Eglide. Maybe it is just faded a little from the years. Wish I lived closer to you and I would talk to you about painting my glide.

Certain waxes will make the black look deeper.

Not a problem at all! Good chance your bike could be slightly faded from sun exposure, as it is 7-8 years old. Actually I have 5-6 jobs in TX too...

The new fender you bought was stock HD paint or was it painted black by someone? There are many shades of black...

It came right off of a 06 or 07 FLHX. It just looks blacker, must be the fading.
