streetglide tank question

hows it going i have a 2008 street glide with the metal harley davidson emblem on the tank i'd like to remove it and was wondering how i was told i could use some fising line to get it off was wondering if that would work and most importantly was wondering if it would work would there be any paint issues when i remove it or is this a simple thing i'm assuming tank was completly finished before they put emblem on so i guess i;m hoping a simple buff will do the job ?? thanks in advance for any help

Its just on there with double sided tape. Fishing line should work or you can park it in the sun and let it get hot and it will peel off pretty easy. If there is some sticky left on the tank, you can use wd40 to remove it or you can use a heat gun to warm it up and roll it off. hope this helps

Just be careful if you use a heat gun and even with the fishing line. You don't want to cause scratches. I've had guys use straight Goof-off without issue. I will say this - sometimes underneath those emblems the tanks get slightly (very slightly) dented. I think the factory must use some type of device to hold them in place until they set up and I have seen on occasion dents underneath. Nothing major, but a skim coat of filler was req'd...

You probably will not even have to buff after...
