Gas Tanks

I am a bit confused about the differences between a Quickbob aftermarket tank and a Fatbob aftermarket tank. What is the difference?

I recently bought a Quickbob tank from Dennis Kirk. The part number of the tank is DS391255

I would like to use this dash. Its from a 2000 up TC.

The HD part number for the dash is 71248-00

Will the dash fit the tank shown? If so which base plate will I need?

I will be obliged for any information about the differences between a Quick and a Fatbob. Also, any guidance on the base plate for the dash shown.

Thanks

Not 100% sure about the differences but be sure and have that pressure tested before painting it

Thanks.

I sense you say that as you have had trouble with this tank in the past?

Just looking at the dash panel you have...it does not look like it's a fit, as 00 softails have no plate under that dash. Just a rubber seal, so that tank paint does not come in contact with dash panel.

I hope I am wrong...that would be some kinda kit to make up the difference. Good luck!

No, not that particular tank - ALL aftermarket tanks need to be pressure tested. If a tiny pinhole is in there it will ruin the fresh paint at the first fill up. Pressure testing should be done prior to bodywork - all aftermarket stuff will need some amount of bodywork too. Have you tried lookin on ebay for an actual HD tank replacement?

Thanks for your response and guidance.

I am not entirely sure what I am looking for when it comes to what fits what. This tank was advertised to fit my 92 FXRS-C and that was good enough for me.

I am not aware of an HD tank of this style to fit my FXRS? Is there one?

Not sure either...perhaps a call to your local HD dealer to see what else might fit - they should be able to tell you if anotehr model can be fitted to your scoot...

Kustom is right on on the pressur testing.

Some tanks come with a seal coat inside and are pressure tested and should state so in their materials. If not, then definatly pressure test it.

I have a FBI streched tank and it came with paperwork stating that the inside was sealed and it had been pressure tested. Works just fine. But it did need some body work on the outside before painting.
