Hey Pat

When you do marbilizing is there a big difference if you just lay the saran wrap on or scrunch it all up first. Primed everything last weekend and hope to to color this weekend.

Thanks Dave

YEs! Scrunched up will create a smaller tighter pattern.

What I do, is lay it down over and then use he air from the gun to stick it to the piece!

Also, remember to follow the instructions to the letter - after you do the marblizer, let it sit for 1/2 hr I think it is, then shoot 2 coats of SG-100 over it to seal it in. If you are going to kandy it with the kk concentrate you might be able to just shoot that over it, but I still do the straight sg-100 over first, then the kandy, then the clear.

When mixing your KK kandy in with sg-100 do a straight 1:1 reduction, not a 2:1. What I like to do is add 1 oz of kandy concentrate to 26 oz of mixed sg-100.

Good luck - the marblizer is pretty forgiving too, so if you don't like it, you can try doing another layer of saran wrap over.

But again, I like the trick where you put the saran wrap on, then blow air out of the gun to create a random, but uniform pattern. Then, if you want to go back and hit some spots, you can scrunch up the saran wrap and dab on and off..

Pat I thought scrunching it up would look better on the the bike parts. Thanks for the tip on the air from the gun I will definitely try that. I talk to HOK tech and he said I could mix the KK with the first coats of SG 100 after the marbilizer to reduce the paint build.

Always appreciate your help,

Dave

You actually got thru to HOK tech??? Plus one for you!

Take a look at some of the marblizer stuff I did on my site - the scunched up gives it a bit more 'texture' and does look good. What you can do is do the air technique 1st, then follow up with scrunching it up and dabbing in different spots. I think you will be pleased with how easy it is to work with.

Good to know about the kk tip too - I always played it safe, and shot a single coat or 2 light coats of sg-100 over to be safe. Glad the kandy does not effect it...will be a time and $$ saver too...

And that's what I'm here for...anytime!

Things went well the past two days. I am not able to fit all the parts in the temp booth that I set up. Sat. I did rear fender & side covers. Today was tank and front fender. Sixteen coats of paint in two days. 2 sealer, 1marbilizer, 3 kandy and two clear each day. It took 3-4 hours of booth time including dry times. Boy do you earn your money. The result is I could'nt be happier. NO RUNS. The Brandywine kandy really pops over the marbilizer. I finally got the hang of marbilizing on the last fender in that I should have patted the other pieces more with a scrunched up piece of wrap. I also wet sanded the parts I did on Sat. Tomorrow after work plan to wet sand the rest and start taping off for the black. I'm taking pictures and may have to wait till it's completed to post. We'll see.

Thanks for your help,
Dave
